How does the PA Fusion Organization communicate information?
The organization communicates through the handouts, website and individually by phone/text.
Is financial aid available?
No. The team will conduct approximately (2) fundraisers throughout the year. The intent is to have the fundraisers account for monies owed for facility rental, tournaments and uniforms. In the even that the profits from the said fundraisers do not cover financial obligations, the remaining balance shall be divided among participating families.
How is AAU different from other programs or leagues?
The AAU program is much more competitive than recreational league, with practices during the week and games and tournaments on the weekends. It is also important to keep in mind that players who are unable to attend practice will also miss out on understanding what was covered in practice (for example, learning a play). Therefore, missed practices may have a significant impact on playing time.
My child plays another sport - would he/she be able to play AAU Basketball also?
Yes, your child can still play AAU Basketball. PA FUSION teams have practices during the week. Game and tournaments are typically on weekends (some tournaments start on Friday evenings.)
How many teams are there?
There is normally 1 team per grade that are selected by ability level during the tryouts. There could be a 2nd team established depending on the interest. In the event that we have an increased interest, one team will be made-up of the girls with a higher skillset. The second team will be more of a developmental team, with the intent to increase their overall skill level.
Is playing time guaranteed if my child makes the team?
Unlike some programs, AAU DOES NOT GUARANTEE playing time for any player. There are too many extenuating circumstances to guarantee a certain period of playing time. That being said, your daughter was not selected to sit on the bench. If at any time you are concerned about your child's playing time, do not approach the coach during the event. Please contact one of the organizations executive officers and there will be a meeting scheduled to address your concerns. Please keep in mind the broader goals of the program before taking issue with any player's playing time.
How many tryouts are there?
Unlike other AAU organizations, the majority of our players are hand selected. In the event that we are informed of a players interest, we will contact the parents of said player and evaluate their skillset during the respective grade levels practice. See out Tryout page for updated times and dates. What if my child cannot attend all tryout sessions?
